DESPITE CONFLICTS OF INTEREST, TRIAL GOES FORWARD

Marcus Page received word that the Honorable Magistrate Pat Casados will not recuse herself, so he subsequently filed a motion for dismissal, based on inaction from the Prosecution. Page is one of two members of Trinity Nuclear Abolitionists (TNA) who were arrested for praying at Los Alamos National Laboratory in a Tax-Day action on April 14th. The other abolitionist, Mike Butler, is awaiting a hearing on his plea bargain. Meanwhile, TNA continues to conduct monthly vigils on Department of Energy land at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Page was bewildered by the rejection of the potential recusal. He believes the Magistrate judge is in a partnership with an employee of Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL), which is a facility of the Department of Energy (D.o.E.). "One of our opponents is married to the judge in this case. How can nuclear abolitionists get a fair trial when the stage is set by the opponents?"
